As we're not a commercial organization, we don't belong in .com.
I know that the kiddies thing '.com' means "web site", but it really was supposed to be a heirarchial thing; it should be diet.coke.com, not dietcoke.com and movie sites wouldn't register every movie name ever published but would instead put it under their parent sites. But somewhere around the mid 90's, people started confusing "domain names" with "AOL keywords" and the intent was lost. Even Tim Berners-Lee (a GPSBabel user...) has said he's regretted domain names and protocols being visible to browsers and humans.
/waves fist angrily. And quit riding your bikes through my yard!
